I don't feel like myself with bare nails, or even chipped nails for that matter. And because I'm a gal on a budget, and I love to switch up my polish often (though lately I've been sticking to neutrals and pale pinks), I've had to master the at-home mani. And I've learned that the secret to a good at-home mani is a serious top coat - Sally Hansen's Mega Shine Top Coat is one of my holy grail products - and good, quality polish.
Enter TRUE Isaac Mizrahi's Nail Lacquers ($10). I received these in Darling Plum, Nutty, Happy Red and White Out and decided to try Darling Plum first. The formula applies thickly and requires two coats. It dries beautifully, and looks fresh long after it's dried. I wore Darling Plum for a full week, with minor wearing off at the tips of my nails. No chips, though. I also received plenty of comments about my gel mani, but no gel here. This week, I'm wearing Nutty, a dark nude that unlike most nudes, doesn't give me mannequin hands. I'll report back on this one, but in the meantime, you can shop the collection here.
And browse around the site to look at the rest of the TRUE collection. It's Isaac Mizrahi's first foray into beauty (why'd he take so long!?), and I'd say it's a pretty good one. After decades designing fashion and after collaborations with Target, among others, he finally did all of us color-loving ladies a favor and launched this collection of pretty. I highly recommend the Illuminating Shimmer ($42) in either shade, and the Concealer Trio ($32) for it's creaminess and easy blending.
